This course is designed for IT professionals that need to install, configure and troubleshoot highly available systems using Windows 2008 server cluster services and Network Load Balancing. The course covers installing applications on a cluster such as SQL2005 and Exchange 2007 and how to avoid the pitfalls. This course includes 10 well documented easy to follow  practical sessions and a trouble-shooting lab.

Course Prerequisites

Delegates should have a sound understanding of the Active Directory, TCP/IP networks and SCSI basics.

Describe the main features and key concepts of Windows 2008 clusters
Describe the main features of network load balancing
Install and configure a network load balanced cluster
Install and configure the shared quorum disk hardware
Create a new cluster and run the cluster diagnostic tool
Set-up resources and resource groups using the cluster administrator and describe resource dependencies
Control and manage cluster services fail-over and fail-back
Set-up and manage highly available clustered file and printer shares
Install and configure WINS, DHCP and Volume shadow shares on a cluster
Install SQL 2005 on a 2003 cluster
Install Exchange on a cluster
Use Active/active and active/passive cluster configurations
Describe the backup/restore options used in clustered systems and recover the quorum disk and the cluster configuration
Trouble-shoot cluster problems in a logical manner and avoid the major pitfalls

Additional information

Practical exercises on the course are carried out using "real world" conventional servers and an iSCSI SAN rather than using Virtual Machines.
