This course is designed for IT professionals that need to install, configure and maintain VMware® 3 installations using ESX server 3.

3 days (Can also be a 2 day tailored course)

Course Prerequisites

Delegates should have a sound understanding of the Active Directory, TCP/IP networks and SCSI basics.

This course includes lots of hands on course labs

Lab 1 ESX and ESXi installation
Lab 2 Creating new Virtual machines and installing guest operating systems. Using snapshots.
Lab 3 Using Virtual Centre Server for:-
VMotion
SVMotion
HA and DRS
Using resource pools
Lab 4 Using the VMware standalone converter
Lab 5 Tuning and monitoring

 

 

Describe the main features and key concepts of ESX® Server 3.5, ESXi and the VMware® infrastructure
Install an ESX and an ESXi server and the Virtual Infrastructure Management Client
Install guest operating systems on to the Virtual Machines
Modify virtual machines
Configure SAN storage for use with VMware®
Manage ESX servers using a VMware® Virtual Centre Server
Create Virtual Machines using templates
Create and manage Virtual Machine Snapshots
Create Virtual Machine Clusters for Distributed Resource Scheduling and high availability
Create and manage resource pools and understand the resource pool hierarchy
Migrate virtual machines using Vmotion, and Storage locations using VMotion Storage (SVMotion)
Convert a physical server to a Virtual Machine using the VMware®, Standalone Converter
Add additional hardware for use by Virtual Machines
Monitor and Tune Virtual Machines
